The problem with such a state of disunity is that providers cannot benefit from one another’s experience (which creates an intellectual void) and these same group living providers will not come together to manage mutual concerns or to address mutually shared injustices. They will not come together to seek legal injunctive relief when they experience across-the-board treatment that negatively impacts their businesses because no relationships exists that would unite them. Many suffer financially as a result.

Michigan providers at least have a business boost to assist them in the diversification of their programs and in uniting for improved business results. This is taking place through an organization called Michigan Community Living (www.michigancommunityliving.com) which develops special outreach programs that help providers thrive in difficult times. More details will be forthcoming over the Summer of 2009. Details about the business enhancement programs available can be discussed with Mr. Angelo Flemings or Ms. Hassana Moumni in the offices of Michigan Community Living, Inc. by dialing 248.987.6842.
